Essential Functions Managing a small caseload of individuals and their respective teams to ensure that Employment Services fit hand in hand with their other services Working with your individuals to discover the type of work they may be most interested in, and weighing their options between what is desired and what is realistic Assisting the individual in creating or updating resumes, cover letters, or other hiring documents Helping the individual you support fill out job applications and communicate with employers before an interview takes place Practicing interview skills and attending the interview with the individual if they choose Working with your client in their place of work to help them master the skills of the position Acting as a conduit between the individual and their employer to facilitate better communication and to make sure both the individual and the employer are meeting their obligations to each other Fostering relationships between the individual you work with and their coworkers to better integrate them into their workplace Helping the individual you work with achieve independence in the workplace by slowly drawing down supervision and assistance in the workplace over time Looking into public transportation options in order to help the individual get to work independently Cultivating relationships with area employers to better help your individuals find jobs and to educate employers on the benefits of hiring the population we work with Completing Community Support Services with individuals when necessary Schedule The Employment Specialist position is a full-time, 40-hour position.
Hours are typically Monday through Friday between the hours of 8am and 6pm, though this position is flexible in order to meet the needs of the individuals we serve.
Occasional nights, weekends, or holidays may be possible.
